In a collaboration between NSG, Tenenge, and OEC, an impressive operation of maritime transportation involving 34 Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) pressure vessels was successfully completed with excellence.

The operation was divided into three maritime voyages from China to Angola, navigating through the challenging Cape of Good Hope. The journeys took place between October 2022 and May 2023. This achievement represented not only a logistical challenge but also a remarkable demonstration of engineering.

The numbers alone are impressive. Each pressure vessel, weighing approximately 400 tons, measuring 72 meters in length, and 8 meters in diameter, pushed the conventional limits of maritime transportation engineering. Moreover, to reduce the number of trips, the project premise was to transport the vessels transversely to the vessels, generating a structural overhang of 21 meters on each side of the vessels, with 16m overboard. This campaign involved three different ships and covered a colossal distance of almost 10,000 nautical miles.

CHALLENGING ENGINEERING: PUSHING BOUNDARIES AT EVERY STEP

A challenging aspect of this project was the overhang of the vessels, extending to 21 meters with a 16-meter overboard on each side of the ship.

Additionally, it was necessary to ensure the fixation of the load on the deck without using welds on the transported pressure vessels, adding complexity and requiring extreme precision in execution.

The engineering behind this monumental operation was coordinated and executed by a highly qualified team from NSG, Tenenge, and OEC. Every step, from production in Asia to transport and unloading in Luanda, was meticulously planned and executed.

The pressure vessels, each with a storage capacity of 3,000m³, totaling 120,000m³, not only represent an impressive logistical achievement but are also essential to meet the demand and schedule of the project in Angola.
